Cyclone Remal Devastates Bangladesh
Cyclone Remal has swept through Bangladesh, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Yet, in the face of adversity, the people of the Bangladesh show their resillience to overcome this tragedy.

Creating a Brighter Future for Kurigram’s Orphans and Underprivileged Youth
Nowbadosh Orphanage and Madrasah is in the Kurigram District of Bangladesh. Kurigram District is an administrative area of Rangpur Division in northwest Bangladesh and is the poorest district in Bangladesh. 77% of the population are in poverty and 54% in extreme poverty.
The Orphanage is currently caring for 84 orphans along with 34 children from very poor families who come to study at the Madrasah.
From the donations we raised in May 2021, we were able to purchase some land adjacent to the current building and we are aiming to build a 3-storey building to provide a new residence building and a new building for the Madrasah as the current building cannot be extended due to poor foundations.
Phase 1 will see the erection of the 2-storey residence building on the newly purchased land, with a capacity of 100 Orphans per floor bringing the total capacity of the building to 200 Orphans. This will provide sleeping rooms, Toilet/Shower facilities and some recreational areas for the children. CCTV monitoring will be operational throughout the building.
Phase 2 will see the demolition of the existing Orphanage & Madrasah building and replace it with a new building for the Madrasah.
Phase 3 will be to build an extra floor on top of the residence building to make it a 3-storey building, adding space for another 100 Orphans, bringing the total capacity to 300 Orphans.
The total costs will be between £350,000 – £400,000 for all 3 phases.
